James Supra - Harmonica/Vocals

For more than 25 years, James Supra has been playing the blues in the United States and abroad. During that time he has enjoyed apprenticeships and played with some of the music's most revered names, Mike Dugan, Craig Thatcher, Jason Ricci, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Catfish Hodge, Whop Frazier, and BB King to name a few. He has taken a 3 year long hiatus to focus on his family, his health and to support his peers in the local music industry.

James is the Winner of the Lehigh Valley Music Award for best harmonica player 11 years in a row. James is a dynamic entertainer and has assembled a group of four veteran musicians of varied musical backgrounds who have found common ground in the blues.

Ray Grimmer  - Bassist

Ray has performed with blues bands for over 20 years, most notably with guitar legend Bobby Radcliff.

Ray's playing harks back to the classic R&B styles of the 1960's, emphasizing spontaneity and a solid pulse.

Ray first played with James Supra at a jam session in 2008, and the perfect musical chemistry between the two was immediately apparent. Ray began searching for the right musicians to accompany James, leading to the formation of the James Supra Blues Band.

Al Wanamaker - Drums

Al has studied with many notable local teachers, such as Tom Billman, Kevin Soffera, Tony Nichols, and Gary Rissmiller since 1977. He has played with many bands throughout the Lehigh Valley and North Jersey since the early 80s.

Their genres included hard rock in bands such as Dr. Seuss and Rock Haven, the jazz sounds of the band Magic, the rockabilly country sounds of J.W. & the Honkey Tonk Buicks, and most recently (before joining up with Thom Palmer), Lehigh Valley's own Cross Cut Saw.

He has opened for Blues artist Michael Burkes and shared the stage with Kid Bangem, guitarist for the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Al was nominated in 2002 for "best drummer" at the Lehigh Valley music awards. Although he did not win, he claims it was great to be nominated by his respected peers.

He is a collector of vintage Gretsch, Ludwig, & Slingerland drums dating back to the 50's, many of which he uses professionally with The Thom Palmer band. (And, yes, he even has the "Gretsch" logo tattooed on his arm!!!). The strongest thing you'll see him ingest these days is a good cup of coffee, but he often reminds us that he once got high with Dr. Hook at DJ Bananas back in 1989.  When Al is not on a drum kit, you can usually find him behind the mixing board as he runs a live sound & light company, working for many local bands from NJ & PA as well as occasional national and regional acts, outdoor concerts, festivals & fairs.

Al's busy musical lifestyle does not leave too much time for other hobbies (except maybe taking a nap, which he claims he is quite good at...just ask Thom!!!) although that is just fine with him; drumming provides him with all the happiness one can handle.
